Although I love my black and decker yard tools, the batteries only seem to last about a year and a half. Pretty soon I will have spent more on the batteries than the tools themselves. I love the tools, so I'll keep doing it, but it's kind of like printers and print cartridges... more money on the cartridges than the printer... I keep a set of three batteries charging so I can always have one ready to go for weed-wacking, blowing, trimming, etc... but, even after 1 and 1/2 years, they would only last about 2 minutes before dying. So, you just have to buy more batteries to get you through another year and a half. -- Battery Packs work great for "awhile."
I've used my HedgeHog trimmer maybe a dozen times in three years. I just got the battery out this June to put into the HedgeHog and it was dead. Okay fine, I'll charge it.
Put it on the charger and no lights; Hmmm. So I left it on the charger, hoping maybe the lights just didn't work. A few hours later, still nothing. This battery was used a few times and now is shot. Maybe I didn't use it ENOUGH??? Regardless, a $35 battery (HALF the price of the tool it is supposed to power) ought to last more than a few times over a few years.
So... Do I dump it and get another brand with a new battery and charger included or get a new battery and hope the trimmer lasts for a while?
Altogether, very disappointing. -- Battery Caput!
I have read reviews that this battery is 2.1 amps but it doesn't last any longer than the one that came with the blower, -- Not that great
I bought the whole B&D outdoor set (trimmer, blower, weedwack) a little over a year ago. It came with 3 of these batteries, which I faithfully kept charged as instructed in the manual. I used the tools less than the average person, yet the batteries already don't hold a charge, despite their claims of "no memory effect". The good reviews for this product are from people that haven't used it more than 1 season. Stay away from this product -- Lousy batter life
I have several Black & Decker tools/yard implements that require this battery, and need to replace one every few years or so. This battery is a good one and Amazon's price is the best I've found. I have four now, but will be buying another soon. -- Good rechargeable battery
