initially at looking at the tools i thought they would not cut or last very long; i was wrong on both counts. they are very sharp and cut very well. i have pruned about ten large tree's and done some clearing with no problems. -- i like it
I bought this set because I didn't yet trust myself with the responsibility of Felcos. I really just needed the pruners, but the loppers came in handy right away. First, the trowel is molded aluminum, so the handle won't be coming off. I can definitely see the red rubberized handle covering tearing off soon, but other than the fact that it does ding up and scratch easily, it's working well. I like it. The pruners have not held an edge well. I had to sharpen them after only a few uses. They are also twisting sometimes, instead of cutting. That usually happens with cheaper models and after a bit of abuse (trying to cut things that are too large, etc), but these started doing it pretty early on, it seemed. The loppers have dulled VERY fast. The red paint chipped quicky, also. The biggest thig to note is these items are NOT stainless. Both blades looked beaten and abused (stained and even snaggy and chipped-looking, esp. the loppers) after just a few uses. I even wiped them down with 3-in-1 oil after each use, instead of just throwing them in a bin. I think that for the price, it's an OK set, but only if you don't have a lot of work for them. I learned I actually AM capable of caring for my tools properly, and was a bit disappointed they didn't show it. I'm stepping things up and buying higher-quality tools for next season. I hope I can make these last that long. -- Makes the cut, but barely.
