For years I have created clouds of drywall dust with home remodel projects. The wife tries to be understanding, but the dust is about more than she can take. Finally, an answer! I would say this device will catch about 80-90% of the dust. I'm using a 12 gallon typical shop vac on the other end. I've found that I get more control by just holding the sander with my hand instead of the end of a pole, but it is possible to sand on the end of a pole. The problem is the vacuum suction makes it a little hard to push around on the end of a stick. Overall - huge improvement. You really no longer need a dust mask with this. Now if I can get the wife ok with the vacuum cleaner's noise... -- A Marriage Saver
I started a project without this sander and covered my entire rec room in dust. After a lengthy clean up process I put the whole project on hold and started searching for a better way. After reading other reviews of this product, I thought it was worth a try. I combined this with a fine particle filter and drywall bag on my 12 gal shop vac and was amazed by the results. On a bright sunny day, I sanded over 200 square feet of drywall and couldn't even see any dust floating in the air!

This sander works as it should, and performed better than out Porter Cable unit on a recent constricted project. This "dustless" pole sander allows for a greater range of movement in tight locations for a person familiar with a pole sanding.
We are a General Contractor and bought two of these in a pinch to finish nine (9) media projection rooms of an occupied building. The rooms are very small and the Finisher was spending more time re-positioning the Porter Cable unit than actual sanding. These pole sanders have an adjustable vac attachment at the pad, which allows the Finisher to position the pole wherever thay want, unlike the other products (including the Porter Cable) where the vac hose attaches at the base of the pole. These sanders were also attached to very flexible 25ft - 1 1/4" hoses which allowed the freedom of movement and the vacs to be placed away from the work areas.
Don't get me wrong, we love our Porter Cable units for working in occupied areas. But these Hyde sanders are also now included in our Finisher's toolbox. -- Hyde Vac Pole Sander
The Hyde tool, works very well, dust is keep down to a minimum. It has save me time and labor hours not having to clean up as much. It's a time saver.

great product worked better than i expected .sanded 1200 sgft in ceiling no problem .works just as good as the expensive stuff just takes alittle adjustment for the suction control but a great tool -- hyde tool
